Storing Digital Photos
Memory Cards
You store your digital pictures temporarily in the memory cards while you are on the road. You can purchase multiple memory cards and swap them out from you digital camera when they are full, in order to expand your camera's storage capacity .
However, this is only for temporary storage because of capacity limitation, cost, and difficulty to organize the pictures. When you get home, connect your digital camera to your computer or use a memory card reader to download your digital photos to your computer.
Portable Storage Devices
There are portable storage devices on the market that let you directly copy digital photos from the memory card in your digital camera. This way, you can reuse the same memory card and no longer have to worry about running out of memory card space.
These portable storage devices come with built-in hard drives, with capacities ranging from 20GB to 80GB, and memory card slots that read different memory card formats. Simple insert the memory card from your digital camera into the storage device and download images into its built-in hard drive.
You can transfer the photos to your computer hard drive when you get home, or you can choose to archive the photos on the portable picture storage device itself. Learn about Media Buddy portable picture storage and Picture Porter Elite portable picture viewer.
